The Edo State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Dan Orbih, has congratulated the Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson on his re-election. He also hailed the people of Bayelsa for their doggedness, resolve and tenacity in the face of tyranny, violence and gangster audacity.
Chief Orbih remarked that with Bayelsa now safely under the umbrella of progress, Edo State was next. He reminded Edo people that in about six months’ time, Edo State will have an opportunity to effect a change in its government and he implored Edolites to stand tall to defeat tyranny. He informed them not to be intimidated by the rhetoric of the APC as it is possible, as displayed in Bayelsa, to defeat APC even though they are the Federal Government and have the power of cohesion and intimidation.
“Hard as they tried in Bayelsa, the people stood their ground. And APC failed woefully. The same fate awaits APC in Edo State,” he declared.
He, however lamented that the era of free, fair and credible elections, as experienced under the PDP-led federal government was being threatened, owing to the APC desperation to capture all states in Nigeria, but warned that Edo people will resist any such desperation.
Chief Orbih sympathised with the families of those that were murdered in the course of the Bayelsa election and asked the law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to book.
Governor Dickson, he emphasised, will even achieve more in his second term and Bayelsa will be the better for it.
PDP, he said, is the party best poised to lead Edo State into the next decade as it is the party that listens to the cries of Edo people.
