All is set for the third annual grand dinner/award night of the Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Awka Study Centre, Anambra State on Saturday, June 25, 2016 where some prominent sons of Anambra State including Chief Ifeanyi Ubah, the publisher of The AUTHORITY newspaper will be honoured.
Speaking exclusively with The AUTHORITY, the NOUN chapter president of LAWSAN, Comrade Uzo Ekemezie (JP), revealed that Ubah would be honoured as LAWSAN Youth Man of the Year 2015 in recognition of his roles in job creation and youth development both within the South East and beyond.
“We have seen what he has done, what he is doing and what he has in stock for youths and the generality of Anambrarians. One cannot forget in haste the contributions and the roles played in Nigeria by Chief Ubah during the period of kerosene and fuel scarcity; how he released millions of litres of the petroleum product to assuage the sufferings of Nigerian populace.
“Worthy of mention also is the fact that Ubah, besides his numerous establishments that absorbed many people, also set-up a newspaper called The Authority which has employed hundreds of youths. The newspaper is, indeed, a pride of the Igbo man.
“Creation of Ifeanyi Ubah FC is also another milestone by the oil mogul in lifting the face of football in Nigeria. Since the team sprang up, the story of football, especially the Nigerian league, changed for better.
“Our society owes a lot to a great thinker and philanthropist like Ubah, and, it is in the light of this that we, Law Students Association of Nigeria, NOUN, Awka Study Centre, Anambra State plan to give him this honour as ‘The Youth Man of the Year 2015”.
