The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has made an appeal to the media to support the efforts of President Muhammed Buhari towards reposition the country.
Mohammed, who made this call in Abuja on Thursday during the formal launch of Today’s Impact, said the Federal Government was ready to partner with the media to improve the image of the country.
Represented by the Director of Information in the ministry, Abdul Yakeen Umar, the minister harped on the importance of media support to enhance the living standard of the people.
“The media should partner effectively with this administration to enlighten Nigerians on its people-oriented agenda. The agenda, as you all know, is aimed at strengthening ongoing reform process, with a strong view of creating popularity, higher standard and better quality living for all Nigerians as well as eliminating corruption.”
On his part, the Chairman of the occasion and former Military President, Gen Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, called on media operators to propagate ideas that would further unite the country as one indivisible entity.
While commending the Publisher of the paper, Henry Segaben Noboh, for making the newspapers available to teeming readers at no cost, Babangida, who was represented by his former Chief of Staff and ex-Governor of Niger and Plateau States, Col Habibu Shaibu (rtd), called for support for the paper.
In a remark, Noboh commended dignitaries that attended the launching, just as he pledged to make the newspapers available to Nigerians at no cost.
