Delta free of Lassa Fever, 55 persons under watch recovering

Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr Patrick Ukah, has said that the state has been declared free of Lassa Fever. Speaking to journalists at a media parley yesterday, Ukah stated that the Ministry of Health has given the state a clean bill of health after 55 quarantined cases were cleared.
He also said that a new logo and anthem has been unveiled for the state, saying, “This is a seal, or an emblem, and a logo of the Delta State Government. What we had was the military seal and we are not a militarised state. All the states are beginning to make their own.”
The commissioner, while debunking rumours that the state spent billions to host the silver jubilee, revealed that in partnering the private sector, the state realised over N165 million and signed five Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) to develop the state.
Also commenting on why the state has been hard pressed from having palliatives to cushion the effect of the recession, Ukah said the government has paid all salaries and even signed the September 2016 salaries.
