Sixty-three bidders have scaled through the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) bidding process for private security guards and cleaning services for NYSC Headquarters, state offices and other formations nationwide.
In the bid opening yesterday in Abuja, Director of Procurement, Yakubu Jok explained that at the close of bid 39 contractors for were cleared for cleaning while 24 contractors were cleared for security services.
Jok said the NYSC have always tried to satisfy the conditions of the Procurement Act and give contractors the opportunity for reactions in a transparent manner.
“In the NYSC we want, as much as possible to follow due process as contained in the Procurement Act, since there is no reaction from the contractors, it is clear that the contractors are satisfied with the process and that there was transparency as required by law”.
He said the present number of contractors were pruned down from 50 companies that expressed interest for security and 77 companies that expressed interest for cleaning
He explained that the financial bid would take place in a later date and assured that it would be as transparent as the first bid has been.
It is recalled that the Secretary of the Tender’s Board, Bawa Abubakar signed a letter of expression of interest on the cleaning and security services for interested contractors.
The letter singed 4th December by Abubakar stated that commencement date of 29th December 2016 to 30th January, 2017.
