Concerned by the need to promote standard, the Education Secretary of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Alhaji Saidu Karshi has promised to overhaul all public schools within the area for more efficiency.
Karshi said the Education Secretariat of the council had inspected some schools with a view to ascertaining the level of their needs and specific areas that need urgent attention.
The Education Secretary (ES) who was speaking in an interview, assured the staff and students of the area council that the chairman is resolved to ensuring that standard of education in AMAC schools is not below the expected standard.
According to him, teachers’ salaries and other allowances would be given priority attention, starting this year.
He called on the teachers to support the effort of the council chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Candido, through being committed to the ways that would boost teaching and learning across the various schools.
On whether the LEA was employing teachers, he explained that there was no employment in progress, but that there were only replacing the teachers that have retired.
He said embargo on employment of teachers would be lifted when the allocation of the LEA is increased.
