The Speaker of Abaji Area Council legislative arm, Abubakar Sadiq Yahaya, at the weekend gave scholarship to 30 indigent students of the council to support their education.
Yahaya, who represents Abaji Central ward, handed over an undisclosed amount in an envelope with a letter attached to each of the beneficiaries.
He said the offer of scholarship to some indigent students from his ward was aimed at supporting them to meet some of their financial challenges in schools.
According to him, the 30 benefitting students cut across, universities, Colleges of Education and those in Polytechnics.
The Speaker advised parents to always send their children to school, saying the foundation of every child’s future comes through education.
He therefore, advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the scholarship given to them, even as he urged them to be patience and continue to support the APC led administration of the council so that every individual will feel the impact of the dividend of democracy in the area.
One of the beneficiaries, and a student of the FCT College of Education Zuba, Usman Kabir, thanked the Speaker for the gesture, while urging other councillors to emulate the gesture.
