President Muhammadu Buhari and Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, yesterday met behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa over the proposed Bakassi deep seaport.
Ayade who arrived about 1pm, was later taken to meet the President at his residence for the parley that lasted about 40 minutes.
The governor has been relentless in pursuing to fruition the proposed Bakassi deep seaport and the 260km superhighway, which are estimated to cost about N700 billion.
Ayade had last year said that the deep seaport had received presidential nod and that it is expected to boost the export of produce such as rice and banana as well as solid minerals.
The governor had earlier declared that the Bakassi seaport would not compete with the existing Calabar ports, but will only complement it because the new port will be a 16-meter draft that will accommodate mother vessels especially from the Far East.
