I didn't call for taking up of arms - Gov Ishaku

Contrary to a publication by one of the national dailies stating that Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, had called on Christians to take up arms against their enemies, the governor actually meant that Christians needed to be ‘vigilant rather than passive’ of the security challenges in the country.
Recall that last weekend in Jalingo, during the the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) thanksgiving service and prayers for victims of the Southern Kaduna attacks, Gov Ishaku, represented by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Anthony Jellason, had called on Christians in the country to defend themselves and not relax, saying the time had come for them to defend themselves against their enemies or risk the ‘annihilation’.
“The people must wake up from their slumber and defend themselves. You can’t just lie down and allow yourselves to be annihilated by other groups. You have a constitutional right to self defence and now is the time to use it. The government cannot do it”, Ishaku stated.
