The deputy governor of Nasarawa state, Mr. Silas Agara, yesterday assured that the on-going renovation work at the Lafia City Stadium will be completed before the commencement of the 2016/2017 Nigerian Professional Football League(NPFL) season.
He gave the assurance while playing host to the state chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) at Akwanga.
Mr. Agara, who is the Pillar of Sports in the state explained that both the medical and the dressing rooms are undergoing finishing touches.
According to him, funds have been released to the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development in the state to ensure timely completion of work before the commencement of the league season.
‘’I have been in touch with the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development and they have assured me that the job will be completed in a matter of days’’
He called on the private sector to complement government’s efforts at developing sports, stressing that funding of sports should not be left in the hands of government alone.
