In a major restructuring exercise for greater efficiency, the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Peterside, has redeployed some senior management staff of the agency.
The new postings, according to Peterside, are expected to reposition the agency to meet its statutory mandate. The exercise follows the recent promotion of the agency’s senior management staff, which saw eight deputy directors become directors; 15 assistant directors became deputy directors, and 56 grade level 14 officers became assistant directors.
Among those redeployed is Mr. Isichei Osamgbi, who returned to the headquarters as Head of Corporate Communications Department, taking over from Lami Tumaka, who coincidentally took over from him about two years ago in a similar redeployment exercise.
On her part, Tumaka is now the Director, Special Duties in the Director General’s Office, alongside Mr. Ibrahim Jibril, who is the Director, Strategic Management, also in the Director-General’s Office.
Also, Mr. Abiodun Akinyosoye takes over as Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mrs. Aishatu Jumai Musa is the Director, Planning, Research and Data Management Services Department, while Mr. Audu Abdulsalam is now the Director, Legal Services.
Others include, Mr. Hassan El-Yakub (Director, NIMASA Eastern Zone), Mr. Olayemi Abass (Director, Western Zone), Mr. Anthony Ogadi (Head, Shipping Development) and Mr. Abel Femowei (Coordinator, Central Zone, Warri), just as Capt. Sunday Umoren is new Head, Maritime Safety and Seafarers Standards Department.
It may be recalled that the Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Dakuku Peterside had at several fora reiterated the commitment of the agency to the repositioning and restructuring of the Agency for greater efficiency and productivity.
