Police find 2 decomposing bodies in Asaba

Two decomposing bodies of tricyclists killed by unknown persons have been dscovered in Asaba where they were dumped.
The shocking discovery have sent cold shivers into the hearts of tricyclists in the city some of who identified the rotting bodies as their colleagues.
The Authority gathered that the corpses were discovered by a police officer in a bush along Onitsha-Asaba Expressway close to the old Deputy Governor’s office.
The police officer, the report said, had taken his car to a mechanic workshop in the area for repairs. He had noticed a disagreeable smell at the back when he went there to relieve himself. This had drawn his curiosity to the spot where the corpses were dumped.
Eyewitnesses said the corpses were already decomposing and that the smell from the dead bodies had become a concern for residents of the area before the discovery that resulted in the alarm that attracted the general public.
Some members of the Hausa/Fulani community who were also attracted by the alarm identified the victims as Abubakar Suleiman and Hamza Abdulahi Alhaji both of whom were declared missing about two weeks ago.
They said it was obvious that the victims were killed while their tricycles were stolen from them by the assailants.
Residents of the area alleged that such deaths are becominga recurrent decimal as many persons had been killed in mysterious circumstances over the years and their corpses dumped in undeveloped plots.
Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the development, said the Commissioner was in the middle of a marathon meeting with senior police officers in attempt to get to the root of the matter.
He also revealed four persons have already been arrested in connection with the incident, adding that a spray painter who was found with one of the stolen tricycles was among the suspects.
