Police set new security strategy in Abuja South

Against the backdrop of curbing security breach­es in Abuja South area of the FCT and its environs, the Nigeria Police Force has initi­ated a stakeholders’ meeting, ‘Eminent Persons ‘comprising of politicians and prominent people in the area.

Speaking shortly after the fo­rum’s meeting in Gwagwalada, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in -charge of Gwagwalada Area Command, Mijinyawa Jahun said the deci­sion was taken as another step towards tightening security across communities that make up the zone.

The Gwagwalada Police Area Command, comprises of four area councils, Abaji, Kwali,Kuje and Gwagwalada, which as well make up the Abuja South Fed­eral Constituency.

ACP Jahun said the new ar­rangement is a platform that draw prominent politicians and other major stakeholders to come together on monthly bases to review major activities and set new tunes on how better to promote protection of lives and property.

He stated that security issues would be better tackled when various means are adopted to be bringing key actors together and sensitising on the needed areas that called for concerted efforts.

The meeting, which is nor­mally being held at the prem­ises of Gwagwalada Police Area Command is geared towards discussing possible ways of ensuring that all the residents work for the best interest of their communities.

He, however said the ‘Emi­nent Personality forum’ provide an opportunity for both security agents with front-runner stake­holders to interact and review their performances and identify areas of more collaboration.

The end of the year meeting was attended by serving and non-serving politicians, secu­rity experts and other highly placed members of the area.
