The management of University of Ibadan (UI) has appointed Prof Oyesoji Aremu as the new Director of its Distance Learning Centre (DLC). Prof Aremu will take over from Prof Bayo Okunade, whose tenure expires next month.
The appointment, which is for a period of three years was made by University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Idowu Olayinka.
Aremu is Professor of Counseling and Criminal Justice Studies in the Institute for Peace and Criminal Justice Studies, University of Ibadan.
Until his appointment as Director, Prof Aremu was Deputy Director (Academic) of the Centre, the position he has held since February 22, 2011.
Aremu,who is the most sought-after public affair analyst is a recipient of the prestigious Commonwealth Fellow at the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies, University of Portsmouth, the United Kingdom.
He is the only Nigerian recipient of Africa Institute of South Africa grant to the project on Triumph of Education in Africa in Pretoria, South Africa, 2011.
His research and publications cover police and policing reforms, academic performance, counseling and criminal justice studies, and recently, open and distance education.
Prof Aremu who has over 100 publications which include books on police, is a Justice of the Peace and is widely travelled.
