Prof Aremu heads UI Distance Learning Centre

The management of Uni­versity of Ibadan (UI) has appointed Prof Oyesoji Aremu as the new Director of its Distance Learning Centre (DLC). Prof Aremu will take over from Prof Bayo Okunade, whose tenure expires next month.
The appointment, which is for a period of three years was made by University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Idowu Olayinka.
Aremu is Professor of Coun­seling and Criminal Justice Stud­ies in the Institute for Peace and Criminal Justice Studies, Univer­sity of Ibadan.
Until his appointment as Di­rector, Prof Aremu was Deputy Director (Academic) of the Cen­tre, the position he has held since February 22, 2011.
Aremu,who is the most sought-after public affair analyst is a recipient of the prestigious Commonwealth Fellow at the In­stitute of Criminal Justice Stud­ies, University of Portsmouth, the United Kingdom.
He is the only Nigerian recipi­ent of Africa Institute of South Africa grant to the project on Triumph of Education in Africa in Pretoria, South Africa, 2011.
His research and publications cover police and policing re­forms, academic performance, counseling and criminal justice studies, and recently, open and distance education.
Prof Aremu who has over 100 publications which include books on police, is a Justice of the Peace and is widely travelled.
