Promasidor Nigeria Limited has restated its commitment to girl-child education as the 2017 edition of Cowbellpedia Secondary School Mathematics TV Quiz Show opened amidst excitement and expectations.
Managing Director of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Mr. Olivier Thiry, explained at a press briefing held in Lagos that girl-child education is very important to nation building and human capital development.
He stated that the stage one of the competition will continue with the initiative that was started in 2016 where mixed schools were asked to nominate a minimum of two girls for each category to represent such schools. This, according to him, will encourage the girl child to take interest in education especially in Science, Technology, and Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) courses.
In continuation, Thiry added that the minimum girl-child enrolment initiative which started last year paid off as it was an all-girls affair in the junior category and in the senior category, the 1st and 2nd runner up positions.
He maintained that ‘Cowbell Our Milk’ has been involved in the improvement of the standard of education in Nigeria especially in Mathematics over the last two decades.
Thiry noted that across the globe, investment in education has assumed an entirely new frontier that government and corporate organisations have come to realise that building capacity in STEM courses represent the driving force for development in the 21st century.
