Rohr set to dump Ighalo

To invite Osimhen in March

The days of Watford striker, Odion Ighalo in the Super Eagles may be numbered  as Gernot Rohr, the Technical Adviser has hinted he would extend invitation to Wolfsburg striker, Victor Osimhen and another Nigerian born German player, for wider choice of forwards ahead of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers.

Ighalo has been struggling to find his goal scoring form in the English Premier League; and may lose his place in the national team to the new invitees, who the coach has assured would make the list of players to be invited to the national team in March.

“We have also the young Osimhen who is about to start playing for Wolfsburg in the German Bundesliga. I will have a look on him and another Nigerian German player. I think we can see them in our next game in March”. He stated.

Rohr, who spoke to journalist on the movement of the Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel to China noted even as he preferred his players to play in the more competitive European League, said he would back his players who are not getting starting shirt in Europe to play in clubs where they will be guaranteed playing times.

The Franco - German coach also noted that he would not stop Watford attacker, Odion Ighalo from making a switch from the England Premier League (EPL) to China, adding that he has already seen several attackers in the Eagles.

“Of course I would want majority of my players to play in the European league, but I know that players would like to play for big money because they would want to protect their future. I don’t know if Ighalo is going there or not. It is his choice to make. We have good list of strikers in the team, and that encourages competition.
