West Ham has rejected a second bid from Marseille for Dimitri Payet.
Talks between the two clubs ended yesterday at an impasse with an improved bid from the French giants still some way short of West Ham’s £30million-plus valuation of Payet.
It was gathered that no other club has come in for the 29-year-old, who developed a reputation as a difficult player to manage during his time in Ligue 1.
Reports in France claim that Marseille’s bid constituted an initial fee of just £19.4m, with just over £2.5m in potential add-ons, leaving the French giants some distance to cover before West Ham will consider parting company with Payet.
West Ham see no financial necessity in selling Payet for less than their asking price even though the 29-year-old has made it clear that he is desperate to return to Marseille.
