Why I organised free medical-outreach for my constituents - Hon. Golu

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Timothy Golu recently said the well being of his constituents is his priority as he organized a 3-Day Free Medical Outreach.

Golu who is representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Constituency made the pronouncement in Pankshin General Hospital during the flagging off of the free medical outreach he organized in conjunction with National AIDS Control Agency and Project Zero.

The free medical outreach included Surgery, Eye test and treatment, Malaria, Typhoid, Hepatitis, HIV/AIDS test and treatment among others.

The Lawmaker explained that the gesture came as a result of his desire to assist his people particularly the less privilege, who for lack of finance hardly go to hospital for treatments.

“It is very unfortunate nowadays people hardly go to the hospital for treatment of ailments that are silently and slowly killing them because of lack of funds.

“These are the same people that elected us into office; it will a disservice if I turn away my eyes and not render assistance to them in this manner”, Golu declared.

He said, “This is just the beginning as plans are underway to dig boreholes and construct roads in various communities in my constituency because I realized that these are the basic things that all of us whether rich or poor needs in order to live a meaningful and purposeful live here on earth.

According to him, similar gesture would be replicated in Kanke and Kanam Local Governments so that many indigent people could benefit from his service haven seen the out surge of people for the programme in Panskhin.

Also speaking during the occasion, Senator Jeremiah Useni, called on other political appointees to take a cue from what Hon. Golu did and better the lives of the people in their constituencies.

Useni disclosed that he and his wife were going to resuscitate the health programme his wife mid-wife when he was the Minister of FCT, Abuja years back.

According to him, sickness knows no race, religion or political differences as it cut across all, hence the need for people to maintain a healthy living to wade it off.

In his remarks, Plateau State Commissioner of Health, Dr Kamshak Kuden, who flagged-off the programme, commended the Lawmaker for the gesture and called on other elected office holders to take a cue from him.

Kuden disclosed that the state government intended to commence similar free medical outreach in some local Governments in the state as way of lifting the well being of the citizenry.

The Commissioner commended Governor Simon Lalong for the prevailing peace on the Plateau, which had given room for the mixing of people on programmes of common interest in spite of party affiliation.

Present at the occasion were, members of the House of representatives- Hon. Solomon Maren, Hon. Rima Shawulu, Hon. John Bull and Plateau APC Chairman, Mr Latep Dabang, PDP Central Zone Vice Chairman, Mr Benedict Shiknuhul and former speakers of Plateau and Bauchi Houses of Assembly Hon. Titus Alarms and Hon. Rifkatu Samson respectively among others.
