Al-Makura swears in 9 commissioners

Nasarawa State Governor,Umaru Tanko Almakura on Monday swore- in nine commission-ers into his cabinet with three Nasarawa state university lecturers making the list.
The appointment of the newly sworn- in members of the state executive followed the cabinet re-shuffle which took place two weeks ago at which six out of the sixteen commissioners retained their position and two were redeployed.
The governor who administered the oath of office at the Lafia city Hall, said the decision for the cabinet reshuffle was in furtherance with the commitment of his administration’s policy for good service delivery to the state hence the need for the injection of bureacrats to make their contributions to the development of the state.
Almakura explained that he reduced the size of the cabinet due to the economic realities of the time in the contry which has affected government business and pace of development even as he emphasized that the down-sizing of the ministries was to reposition them for better service deliv-ery as well as to cut down the cost of governance, hence the cut from sixteen to fifteen.
He said the newly sworn-in commissioners are carefully selected from across the local government areas to join the other six who were retained during the cabinet shake up in order to contribute their quota as the move was aimed at injecting resourceful bureaucrats for efficient and pragmatic governance.
The three Nasarawa state university lecturers that were appointed as commissioners includes Mal-lam Jameel Zakari from (Awe) Dr Abdulkarim Kana(Kokona) and Professor Jonathan Ayuba(Akwanga).
