Enugu Volunteer teachers protest non-absorption of their members

Primary school teach­ers under the aegis of Enugu State Volun­teer Teachers Association, ESVTA, yesterday pro­tested the non-absorption of their members into the primary school education sector.
The teachers who marched to the premises of Enugu State House of Assembly said they are not happy that their members were not absorbed in ten Local Government Areas of the state out of the sev­enteen LGAs that make up Enugu State.
Some of their placards read; “We rescued educa­tion sector from collapsing due to deaths and retire­ment”, “We have suffered for our state”, “We have undergone several training workshops”, “It is injustice that some of our members have not been absorbed”.
The Chairman and Sec­retary of the Volunteer Teachers, Mr Chibuike Ani and Mr Livinus Ikwunne respectively disclosed that the local governments that have benefited in the just concluded recruitment of over 2,000 primary school teachers conducted by the Enugu State Universal Ba­sic Education Board, EN­SUBEB.
