Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has been advised by a group, Greater Nigeria Youth for Peace Initiative (GNYPI) to join the 2019 presidential race.
The group made the appeal after its national consultative meeting held in Abuja.
According to the group, Nigeria has been polarised along tribal and religious lines, and it needs a leader with the experience and acceptance like Atiku to address them.
GYNPI President, Mr Princewill Chijioke, said that only detribalised Nigerians with people-oriented programmes such as Atiku can bail out the country from its myriad of problems.
He said that for the sake of unity and progress of the country, Atiku should be allowed to pilot the affairs of Nigeria for it to remain as a single entity from 2019.
He spoke further on the group’s resolve to develop a structured mass mobilisation of our members nation-wide to the contradictions inherent in the on-going constitutional amendments that smack of obsession with a governance system that lacks the structure to create an enabling space for improvement of the life of the country’s silent masses.
He used the opportunity to laud Alh Atiku Abubakar on his patriotism and assure him of the unreserved support in his wider geo-political firmament.
