The administration of Abaji Area Council has taken steps to sustain the peaceful coexistence among farmers and herdsmen in the area.
This followed the composition of a 21 man committee by Chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, to curb any clash that may occur between the farmers and herdsmen.
Ajiya, who was represented by the council secretary, while inaugurating the committee at the council’s conference hall, said the council decision to set up the committee was informed by the reported cases of alleged destruction of farm produce by cattle in some of the communities.
He said that the setting up of the committee will no doubt douse tension and curtail clash or misunderstanding between the farmers and herdsmen across the ten wards of the council.
The 21 man committee, included the representatives of the police, Civil Defence, traditional rulers, village/district heads, Ardo Fulani, chief of farmers, religious leaders, chief Imam of Abaji among other groups.
