5 feared dead in Hausa, Yoruba clash

Five people have been feared killed in a violent clash between Hausa and Yoruba communities in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Areas affected in the crisis are Sabo, Lagere and Olaoluwa in Ile-Ife.
Eye witnesses said that violence was caused by the alleged raping by some Hausa men in the communities.
They were also accused of molesting Yoruba women in the Sabo area of Ile-Ife.
Consequently, the Yoruba men attacked the Hausa community on Tuesday which erupted into full scale blood bath on Wednesday.
Unofficial sources said the victims were burnt to ashes with tyres placed on them.
It was learnt that the Sabo area had been shut down especially shops that belong to the Hausa community.
Meanwhile, security agencies comprising the police and soldiers have moved in to bring the situation under control.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Arewa Matters, Imam Muhammed Basir, said the situation had assumed a very worrisome dimension.
Imam said that one person was shot dead.
