President Muhammad Buhari this afternoon made a special appearance at the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the State House, Abuja.
The Vice-president is the constitutional chairman of NEC while other members include state governors; Central Bank governor; Ministers of Justice, Finance, and FCT.
The NEC members had resolved to go and pay homage to Buhari in his office at noon after their meeting but the President offered to come and meet them instead.
So, Buhari walked into the Council Chamber venue of the meeting at 12:30 pm and wen round to shake hands with all NEC members before taking his seat.
Osinbajo remarked that the NEC had been abridged in order to receive the president and it should ordinarily come to an end after the handshakes.
He however, called on the chairman of the Governors Forum, and Zamfara State governor, Abdulazeez Yari, to speak on behalf of his colleagues.
Just before journalists were excused from the brief meeting, Yari had thanked Buhari for his support to the state governments as they struggled to meet their obligations to he citizens.
He gave instances of such support as the bailout funds interventions to pay workers salaries, the last of which was the recent Paris Club debt refunds.
