Environment Ministry expresses support for 260km Super Highway in CRS

The Minister of State for Environment, Al­haji Usman Jibrin, has commended the Cross River State government for being sensitive to complaints raised by the stakeholders in 260km Super Highway project proposed by the state government. He made the commenda­tion in an address to the stakeholders’ meeting on the project held in Calabar.
Alhaji Jibrin, who was represented by Mr. J. A. Alonge, acknowledged the importance of the Su­per Highway and the Deep Sea Port to the state and the country as a whole and called on stake­holders to be objective in their presentations.
He noted that, the Federal Ministry of Envi­ronment is in support of the Super Highway and appealed to the State Government to address the environmental and social issues that may come out of the meeting.
In his remarks, the state Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade noted that, the Environmental Impact As­sessment (EIA) of the 260km Super Highway is of paramount importance to him, since the proj­ect is a means of livelihood to the people of the state.
