The FCT College of Education Zuba said it has concluded plans to hold a public lecture in honour of the former Provost, Prof. Tijjani Isma’il in recognition of his contributions to the growth of the college.
A statement by the Deputy Director, Public Relations of the College, Hajia Ramatu M. Jijitar on behalf of the Registrar, explained that the erstwhile provost’s commitment to ensure that the college attend its present feet called for the event.
Mrs. Jijitar said the lecture titled, “Leadership and Challenges of Managing Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria” was put together by management and staff of the college to appreciate the quality legacies Isma’il’s created for the institution.
Prof. Isma’il ‘s life at the college spanned 10 years, he served as an administrative staff for two years before he was appointed Provost for two tenures, with a period of four years each, bringing it to 10 years.
The statement added that the lecture would rekindle the spirit of dedication and hard work among those overseeing the affairs of tertiary institutions in the country.
It also emphasised the need for identifying with those who have contributed immensely to the growth of a given sector, especially an academic institution that focuses on training of future teachers.
“As a College of Education, where teachers are being trained so as to train others, the honour will spur many to action even to do more.”
The public lecture, which according to the statement would attract dignitaries from both outside the academia is to hold within the Month at the college premises.
