Faculty holds retreat on academic culture at UniAbuja

The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) has organised a retreat to strengthen the working relationship between academic and non-academic staff of the institution.

Speaking at the retreat, with the theme: “Rejuvenation of Ethics and Academic Culture among the Staff of the Faculty,” the Dean, Prof. Rhoda Mundi said the idea was to inject additional ideas into the lecturers for effective service delivery.

According to her, the workshop would provide a conducive level playing ground that could develop the faculty as well as the growth of the entire university.

She assured that the faculty under her watch would stop at nothing to sustain the various academic activities embarked upon.

Mrs. Mundi noted that her leadership would continue to organise seminars and workshops for the benefit of the entire faculty’s staff.

The dean charged the lecturers to redouble their efforts as the warm up for the first semester examination which is to commence soon was on, even as she lauded the efforts of the heads of departments for contributing positively to the progress of academic activities in the faculty.

In their separate presentations at the retreat, Prof. Suleiman Muhammad of the Department of Sociology and Prof. Clement Chup of the Department of Geography, stressed the significance of inter personal relationships among the staff and students.

They encouraged senior lecturers to give priority to mentoring of their younger colleagues and emphasised the need for tolerance and understanding while working with other members of the faculty.
