The Nigerian Environmental Society (NES) has decorated the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu with the society’s prestigious Honorary Fellowship award.
NES national president, Professor Lawrence Ezemonye led a delegation of principal officers to the event at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation headquarters in Abuja.
Ezemonye used the opportunity to brief the Minister on the activities of the body. He also solicited the support of the Minister for the speedy passage of the Institute of Environmental Practitioners of Nigeria (IEPN) bill currently with the National Assembly.
Responding, Kachikwu commended NES for the award.
He admitted the challenges confronting the sustainable management of the environment are enormous and called for cooperation of all relevant stakeholders to effectively overcome them.
