Ekene who cut his filmmaking teeth with the late Amaka Igwe and also studied in Hollywood, enthused that he’s passionate about the new film Light in the Dark and that already, it has taken everything from him despite that he’s yet to start filming. “Light in the Dark is a story that I wrote and I got Babatunde Ojo to write the screenplay. It’s about a loving couple, but all of a sudden something happens and the couple falls apart. And it’s a thriller. You don’t really get to see what’s coming. The movie deals with domestic violence and what stands it out is how it portrays it. We are showing you through the eye of a victim. What that person is going through and how that person lives through the trauma to pick her life back. One of the things we are trying to say is, there are so many things that happen to women and a lot of it affects them psychologically, they hardly get out of it but we are saying, you can get out of it and pick your life back. You can find light in that darkness.”
