The Nigeria Gymnastics Federation (NGF) has reaffirmed its determination to take the sport to a greater height with eyes on Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The resolution was reached at the end of its Executive Committee Board meeting held last Weeek at the conference room of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Lagos.
The Federation president used the opportunity provided at the meeting to introduced the newly posted Secretary of the Federation, adding that the major aim of the meeting was to evaluate their success, know where they are and strategize for the future event as they target for serious sponsorship of their programmes.
He thanked his fellow board members for their immense contributions that sustained the growth of gymnastics sport since the past years despite the economic difficulties in the country as the federation would have achieved more if not for lack of funds.
According to him, they were able to attend to all their programmes including their international engagement and as well as the exchange programme with the Japanese government which saw selected stakeholders going to Japan on the invitation of the Asian country with all expenses paid by their hosts.
He added that the federation has drawn up beautiful programmes that will see Nigeria winning more gymnastics laurels internationally more than she won at the 2015 Cango Brazzaville All Africa Games.
On the forthcoming sports federation election, Adefemi warned that the gymnastics federation is a serious body that is above any individual no matter how highly placed hence non- stakeholders who have nothing to offer or to contribute to the growth of the game must stay clear rather than coming to drag the sports.
