The Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has offered admission to 5,292 students for the 2016/2017 academic session.
Addressing the matriculating students, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Muhammad Akaro Mainoma said that out of the 40,000 candidates that applied for admission only 5,292 were lucky to be admitted.
He, however, advised the new students to note that university system is different from secondary school, hence, the need to be more serious in academic activities and not get carried away by the non-regimented life in the institution.
The VC said the university would never accept any form of bad behaviours from any students such as cultism, criminal act, corruption, cheating and conflicts, among others.
Recall that Nasarawa State University has seven faculties with 36 departments, offering 54 degree programmes.
Meanwhile, the University’s chapter of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has elected new leaders who will pilot the affairs of the association for four years.
A statement by the association, said the election which was conducted on the 21st February, 2017, led to the emergence of the new executives.
The chairman of the association, Comr. Zubairu Adamu assured that his leadership would not witch-hunt anybody but would bring about the desired development.
Adamu, who was re-elected for the second time expressed gratitude to God for given him another opportunity to serve the association under a new tenure.
Others members elected include Comr. Bados Jonathan Audi as Vice Chairman, Sule John Shilo; Secretary, Auwalu Suleiman; Assistant Secretary, Yakubu Simon; Treasurer, Alaku Emmanuel Attah; Financial Secretary, Ubam Aminat Egba; Public Relation Officer, among others.
