FC Ifeanyi Ubah were in a killer mood as they thrashed Remo Stars of Sagamu 3-0 in the NPFL rescheduled match day 8 at the Ifeanyi Ubah International stadium, Nnewi- Ozubulu yesterday.
All the goals were scored in the second half of the exciting game.
The Anambra Warriors kicked off the game looking charged for a win after a streak of not too impressive results in recent weeks, including a 2-2 draw with visiting Abia Warriors at the weekend.
The visitors who adopted a cautious approach were rattlesdearlier into the game when Ngoma Luamba’s shot narrowly missed target. A minute later, Alberico Da Silva displaced the defence line of the visiting Remo Stars with a brilliant run as he laid a pass to Obaje Godwin, who on face-to-face with goalkeeper Ndukwe Chizoba failed to convert the opportunity.
Again, Obaje, who was the NPFL highest goal poacher last season, hit a shot past Remo Stars’ goalkeeper in the 39thminute, but the ball hit the woodwork.
Ifeanyi Onuigbo mesmerized the defence line of the visitors in the 55th minute but his eventual shot was handled by a defender of Remo Stars for a penalty. Obaje wasted no time in converting the spot kick for his first goal of the season for the Anambra Warriors.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s offensive onslaught paid off again in the 83rd when Ado Blaise nodded the ball into the net of the Sagamu side, off a pullout from Alberico Da Silva.
Obaje justified his ratings as the highest goal scorer last season when he tactically beat the offside trap of Remo Stars and took a blinder which beat the on rushing goalkeeper.
