Also, the regent of Irri kingdom, Isoko South LGA, HRM Michael Oviese also escaped death as he was shot by yet to be identified gunmen.

The deceased, in his 40s, a motorcycle/ generator mechanic was on his way to work before the incident occurred. His corpse was taken away by relatives to an unknown destination.

According to a source who pleaded anonymity, “we heard the gunshot early morning and I thought it was the civil defense on guard, but not too long after, we saw crowd gathered at the street junction were the incident occurred only to get there to see the man in the pool of his blood. He was shot on the head.

“People of this area are now living in fear because, three weeks ago, a similar thing happened at this same spot and while the victim, a cyclist also was struggling with them, he was shot on his leg and the hoodlums fled on sighting people coming. We no longer live in peace in this area because of continuous attack on us. Now, from 7:30 pm to 8pm, you cannot see anybody on the street again.”
