Sea foods can remedy malnutrition in children - Expert

A nutrition and dietet­ics expert has said that seafood’s can solve the problem of Protein and En­ergy Malnutrition (PEM) in humans, especially children because of their proteinous nature.
In a presentation , a lectur­er in the Nutrition and Dietet­ics Department of the Feder­al Polytechnic, Bida, Godfrey Nwezeh, said Sea foods con­tain lots of protein which helps in the development of the heart, bone, teeth and also re­duce malnutrition commonly known as kwashiorkor.
Nwezeh further disclosed that sea foods have high nutri­tional value and contain some essential fatty acids like Ome­ga 3, and Omega 6 acids which are vital for the development of brain, heart, teeth and bone formation.
He explained that Omega 3 and Omega 6 are vital for brain and bone development which if not taken will lead to cerebral problems.
