Taxi driver killed by stray bullet in Rivers

Ogbogoro community in Obio-Akpor local government area of Rivers state has been thrown into pandemonium following the killing of a cab driver, Ngozi Dennis by stray bullet.
The people of the community took to the streets breaking bottles and disrupting flow of traffic as a result of the Killing.
Eyewitness told newsmen that men of the Special Anti-Robbery squad, SARS stormed the community and started shooting sporadically.
The eyewitness said the stray bullet hit Denis who was on his way to the community.
He said it’s yet to be ascertained why SARS stormed the community, adding that there has been no recent incident of crime in the area.
Son of the killed cab driver, Joshua Dennis told newsmen that his deceased father was indiscriminately shot by SARS officials.
He denied claims that his father was a culprit, “It is not true. My father is a taxi driver. He loads passengers from Ozuoba to Ogbogoro here. Everybody knows him. The police must explain why they came into our community.
When contacted, the Spokesman of the Rivers state Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni refused comment on the matter.
