The University of Abuja Medical Students Association (UMSA) has rolled out activities for this year’s ‘Health Week’ during which members would promote health within and around the University community, especially awareness on the scourge of Viral Hepatitis.
President of the Association, Mr Kingsley Emeka Onwuka, said the health week which is scheduled for February 20 to 25, 2017, has its theme as “A Healthy Life; Stemming the Scourge of Viral Hepatitis.”
He said in a statement made available to newsmen that the theme was informed by the frightening statistics where more than 2 billion people in the world were infected by the Hepatitis B Virus with 4 million acute cases recorded every year with more than 1 million deaths recorded.
