For failing to pay their school fees, several students of the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State have been disallowed by the institution’s management from writing their first semester examination.
The Dean of Students Affairs, Mr. Shehu Baba Mohammed, said that the management took the decision because the students did not use the several windows of opportunity extended to them to pay the fees.
Mohmmed said that some of the affected students were given the money by their parents but they chose to use it for other things instead of paying their school fee.
The dean further stated that the school management gave the students enough time to pay their fees ahead of the commencement of the first semester examination for 2016/2017 academic session.
He also said that the institution’s Rector, Dr. Abubakar Abdullahi Dzukogi, at a recent meeting with the Academic Board, approved that students who were yet to pay their fees should get members of staff of the school to stand as their guarantor, pending on when they would be able to do so.
