The national finals of the ongoing 19th Nestle Milo Basketball Championships for secondary schools in the country will hold in Lagos from 10th to the 17th of June, 2017.
The last edition was held in Asaba, Delta state.
Olufemi Akintola ,the Category Manage of Beverages, Nestle Nigeria PLC, , who made this known yesterday in Lagos, noted that with the conclusion of the state preliminaries, the regional conference will dunk off on April 27 in Abuja and will be rounded up in Akure on May 25
According to him, the conference stage which will feature the 36 states of federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has been divided into four geographical groups made up of Central Conference with centre in Abuja, Confluence Conference in Lokoja and Equatorial Conference with centre in Enugu, while Akure will host the Western Conference.
Winners at the conference stage as well as the two best losers based on performance in both the male and female categories will progress into the national finals which will be held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Speaking earlier, the Managing Director & Chief Executive, Nestle Nigeria PLC, Mauricio Alarcon in his opening remarks expressed delight with the huge number of participating schools in this year's competition and acknowledged the immense contribution of the Milo Basketball Championships in the growth of the game in the country and the world in general.
"In 19 years, Milo Secondary School Basketball Championship has produced numerous basketball talents, some of whom have gone on to play in various leagues across the world, including the NBA. I'm therefore excited about today's event- the launch of the conference stage of a season of building future champion", he said.
