Acting President Yemi Osinbajo this afternoon received the 2017 Budget as passed by the National Assembly.
The N7.44 trillion budge was passed two weeks by the lawmakers and with the year almost half gone, the country is anxiously waiting to have it signed and implemented
The fiscal document was presented to Osinbajo by presidential senior assistant in National Assembly Matters, Ita Enang, at the State House, Abuja.
Speaking to the press afterwards, Enang said the Acting President would assent to the Budget.
This seems to further settle the recent controversy over whether the budget would be signed by Osinbajo or President Muhammadu Buhari, who is on medical vacation in London since May 7th, 2017.
Buhari had handed presidential powers to Osinbajo before departing for London, but speculation remained rife about a scheming by the President’s close loyalists to undermine the Acting President’s full authority.
