Plot owners allege Police harassment at Lugbe Estat

Owners of plots of land at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) Estate, Lugbe Abuja have cried out over what they termed constant harassment and intimidation by officers and men of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command.
They say the law enforcement officers are preventing them from developing their plots on the pretext that they are trespassing despite the fact that the Federal Housing Authority had written to the FCT Police command reminding them that the estate in question does not belong to them.
some of the title owners said their attempts to develop their plots of land at the estate over the years have met stiff resistance from the FCT police command whose officers and men have severally arrested workers at the site and detained them at the Lugbe divisional police station for ‘trespassing on police land’.
One of the plot owners, Yipa Ibrahim, with allocation letter in respect of plot No. 1351 along First Avenue, M-Close, Lugbe Estate said although he has all the necessary title papers, including letter conveying the approval for development duly obtained from the FHA, he had made three attempts to develop his land at the estate in the past but on each occasion, his workers were arrested and detained by the Police who are also laying claim to the property without producing their title document.
He said following an earlier attempt by the Police to stop him from developing his plot at the estate, he had gone back to the Federal Housing Authority who reconfirmed his title and assured that he was not trespassing on police land.
“But in spite of this, the Police stormed the estate again on Friday March 31, 2017 when I mobilized my site engineer with fifteen workers to carry out excavation work for the building of perimeter fence and arrested them.
