The Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (NSPHCDA) has honoured three local government chairmen for promoting primary health care programs in rural communities in their local government areas.
The award ceremony took place at the conference hall of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
According to the NSPHCDA, the recipients of the awards have distinguished themselves as administrators who are willing and ready to improve the health status of residents of rural communities.
While giving the award to the beneficiaries, representative of the NSPHCDA, Dr Abdullahi Adis, charged other local government administrators to emulate the three awardees.
He stressed that the NPHDCA was ready to support and partner with local governments to improve the health of the rural dwellers through the provision of affordable and accessible healthcare services
The recipients in their separate remarks, jointly dedicated the awards to the Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, the NPHCDA and the people of the state for supporting the programs of the current administration, especially in the provision of health care services.
Speaking with The AUTHORITY, the chairman of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government, Mr Success Akolo, commended the Nasarawa State governor for his people-oriented polices and pledged to continue to work in line with the state government policies on rural development.
According to him, Nasarawa state under the current government has made tremendous strides in rural development, especially in its efforts at improving the health of rural dwellers.
On her part, Chairperson of Obi Local Government Area, Hajiya Sa’adatu Yahaya, commended the governor for giving them the opportunity to contribute their quarter in the development of the state.
She vow to continue to work tirelessly to ensure that she provides basic healthcare services to the rural dwellers in her local government.
