The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has challenged Nigerian universities to initiate researches that could lead to innovations toward boosting technological growth.
Sanusi said that for Nigeria to become competitive on the global stage, it must explore, exploit and utilise science and technological innovations and charged the universities to spearhead such efforts. In a statement, the spokesperson of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Lydia Legbo, quoted Sanusi as urging education managers in the Nigerian universities to identify challenges peculiar to their system and address them to achieve their mandate.
Sanusi commended the university for its achievements over the years, noting that it had remained a leading institution for technology education in Nigeria.
