The chairman of Kwali Area Council, Hon. Joseph Shazin is seeking the federal ministry of sports and youth development’s assistance to develop sports in the area council.
Shazin wants the Sports Ministry and Sports Commission to evolve measures that would make sporting activities in the council gain national recognition and beyond.
He stated this while speaking at the end of the 16th edition of Kwali Council Chairman’s Cup competition organised as part of activities to mark his one year in office.
He said the Kwali mini stadium was begging for a facelift in area of infrastructure, but regretted that the council can’t afford the cost involved, giving the standard expected of a stadium.
“The stadium needs facilities to meet the standard befitting the status of the area council headquarters, but the cost can’t be afforded by the council. So, we are appealing to the Sports Ministry and the Commission to support us.
“This will help the council in boosting its sporting activities which can also meet the national standard,” he said.
Shazin is of the believe that some residents, especially the youth who have interest in sports will do more and meet the standard of their counterparts nationally, if provided with the necessary facilities.
The 16th edition of the Chairman’s Cup was between Golden Boys of Yangoji and Bonugo United of Kwali town.
