Melaye accuse governor Bello of spending N1.4 Billion to facilitate his recall

----It is a spurious allegation; Says Gov. Bello

Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi west district, yesterday raised the alarm, alleging that Governor Yahaya Bello has released N200 million to each of the seven Local Government Areas in Kogi West Senatorial District to facilitate his recall from the Senate.

Recalled that the move to recall Senator Dino commenced last week  in all the seven local government councils of the state as people came to sign their signatures and were said to be submitting photocopies their PVC as evidence.

However in a swift reaction, the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has denied the allegations. According to him "It is a spurious allegation."

Senator Melaye who dismissed the threat to recall him as a huge joke  in Kabbaon Sunday while addressing his supporters at his newly constructed constituency office in Kabba, cautioned against wasting tax payers money unnecessarily.

The Senator who later went round the town in Kabba noted that 30 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who refused to collect the money and sign the recall form being distributed by the Kogi State government have allegedly been arrested by the police.

According to him, among those arrested include the Ward Unit chairman in Ife/Olukotun, Mosunmola Shittu and Raphael Ibitiye, husband of the APC Zonal Woman Leader in Kogi West, Khadijhat Suleiman-Ibitiye.

He said, “Quote me, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has released N200 million for each of the seven LGAs in my Senatorial District to facilitate my recall from the Senate.

"The money has been released but they are facing resistance in all pooling units as people refused to sign for the recall form. But he is a joker, my achievements speak for me.

“So far, about 30 persons, including the Ward Unit chairman in Ife/Olukotun, Mosunmola Shittu, have been arrested and taken to the Police Station on the orders of the Kogi State government.

“Everywhere they go, they are facing resistance and have not been able to get signatures because the people are resisting them,"

Effort to speak with the Police Public Relation officer, Mr. William Ayah on the arrest of  people proved abortive, but a top Senior office of the Kogi State Police Command name withheld confirmed that some arrest were made saying the arrest was base on public disturbance.

However, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Alhaji  Yahaya Bello, Mrs. Petra Akinti Onyegbule has denied any involvement in the recall move against Melaye .  She describe the allegation as "spurious"
