EHORECON seeks The AUTHORITY's support for environmental health

The Registrar/Chief Exec­utive Officer, Environ­mental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria, (EHORECON), Dr. Dominic Abonyi has solicited the support of The AUTHORITY Newspa­pers in reaching out to the grass­roots on the importance of a safe and healthy environment.

Abonyi made the call when he led a high-powered team of his agency to the headquarters of The AUTHORITY Newspa­pers in Abuja.

The Registrar stressed the need for the media to inform the populace to maintain a healthy environmental lifestyle.

He informed the host that EHORECON was established by the ACT 11 of 2002 to address challenges of environmental health practices in the country.

He also said the Federal Min­istry of Environment, in 2016 opened environmental health practice to private participation.

Abonyi disclosed that EHORECON is saddled with setting the standard of knowl­edge and skill for people seeking to become members of the pro­fession in Nigeria and regulate institutions.

He further disclosed that with the coordinating role of EHORECON, some tertiary in­stitutions in the country, includ­ing the Nnamdi Azikiwe Univer­sity, Awka, University of Ibadan, Bayero University, Kano, etc have become training ground for en­vironmental health practitioners.

The visitors where received by the Managing Director/Edi­tor-in-Chief of The AUTHORI­TY Newspapers, Mr. Madu On­uorah, the Chairman, Editorial Board, Chief Uche Ezechukwu, Executive Director, South-East, Chief Joe Nwankwo and other members of management.

Mr. Onuorah pledged support for the activities of EHORECON, promising to offer the agency a platform to achieve their goal.
