Hours of Salvation Church Pastor says prayers alone can't turn around recession

CHIDI ASONYE in Aba reports that the General Overseer of Hours of Salvation Church, Pastor Olanrewaju Olaitan says that prayer alone cannot solve the problem of the country’s economic woes.
He called on governments at all levels to provide jobs and make the environment conducive for investors to come in and invest in the country.

Prayer can do a whole lot of things but even God worked. We need
work, we need employment. We need things that can actually benefit the economy. Prayers cannot just do the magic in the economy. We need to work on our economy and it has to be worked by people in authority.
They have to come up with policies and decisions that can help us to go forward.
“There is no doubt that we all acknowledge there is recession. If there is recession you don’t have to fold your hands and be looking, you have to do something . It is in the hands of those in authority to sit down and strategize on how to set up an economic system that will benefit the entire country”.
He acknowledged that recession has also dealt ruthlessly with the Church as it is made up of people who are also members of the society whose economy is suffering an all-time low economic bashing.
He asked Christians to prepare for 2019 insisting that the people are the ones who need a change in the way things are done, “because if we continue not to vote we will continue to be under hardship. If the wrong people are there they will continue to make laws that will continue to draw us backward”.
