FELIX UKA in Abakaliki reports that some communities in Onueke, in Ezza South local government area of Ebonyi State, considered being the third urban community and Agubia Ikwo council area in the state have been without electricity supply for a long time.
Ironically, incidents of vandalization of transformers had been the albatross, particularly in the Ikwo axis , while on the other hand, suspicions are that unpatriotic staff of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC are accomplices to the vandalization of the electricity facilities.
This contemplation came to the fore while the House of Representatives member representing Ezza South/Ikwo federal constituency, Hon. Lazarus Ogbee during the weekend connected to the national grid transformers he donated to three communities in the two council areas of Ezza South and Ikwo.
The events held at Old Ikwo road junction, Achi-Egu junction (Onu Uzo God is love) and Agubia Ikwo. Already some of the transformers donated by Ogbee were vandalized.
He explained that considering how much funds and time the Nigerian government has spent on power without corresponding results it would amount to great sabotage having any one vandalize the existing and functional ones.
The House of Representative member informed he has been able to distribute empowerment items ranging from motorcycles, sewing machines, vulcanizing machines among others to better the lot of his people.
Commissioning the projects, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Power and Renewable Energy, Hon. Ikechukwu Nwobo who commended Ogbee for initiating such people-oriented projects in his constituency called on him to ensure its sustainability and availability to the people of the area. He called on the people to make judicious use of the electricity projects noting that the effort the Honourable member were targeted at complimenting the effort of
Governor David Umahi towards the execution of similar project in the state.
