The League Management Company (LMC) must be very watchful at the Jos, Maiduguri and Sagamu centers of this weekend’s NPFL matchday 34 fixtures as the teams involved have certain things similar to fight for in the clashes.
While league leaders, Plateau United will welcome second placed and another top contender, MFM in a battle of the titans in Jos, two other top contenders, El-Kanemi Warriors and FC Ifeanyi Ubah are billed to lock horns at the Maiduguri stadium, while two other struggling sides, Rivers United and Remo Stars will do survival battle at Sagamu.
With a total of 59 points, three points ahead of MFM on the log; it is very obvious that the stakes will be high on the plateau as both Coaches Kennedy Boboye and Fidelis Ilechukwu will see the Rwang Pam stadium in Jos as the real battle field for the NPFL title.
Also the Maiduguri stadium will be expected to witness a battle of contenders, when FC Ifeanyi Ubah come calling with the mind to do the unbelievable in their quest to remain in the chase for a continental ticket.
El-Kanemi Warriors have remained invincible in Maiduguri, with defending champions, Enugu Rangers being the only side that has pulled a draw at the venue that has been described as no go area for away teams by the coach of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma.
Again the Township stadium in Sagamu will stand out this weekend as another battle field as two relegation threatened sides, host Remo Stars and Rivers United could seek an escape route to the waters of relegation.
In other top fixtures, another title contenders, Akwa United could move closer to their ambition after the weekend clash against 8th placed Niger Tornadoes, while 4th placed Enyimba International will welcome ABS at the Yakubu Gowon stadium in Port Harcourt.
