From Maduabuchi Nmeribeh, Kano
One of the staunch supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari in Kano, Alhaji Abdulmajid Danbilki Commanda on Monday raised the alarm that the authorities of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) have banned him from using their facilities to project the 2019 re-election campaign of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Danbilki who spoke to journalists in Kano upon his return from Kaduna, claimed that he was barred from featuring in a Federal Radio Kaduna Hausa program, “Hanu da yawa”, by the Zonal Director, Buhari Auwalu who said he was acting on strict orders from above.
According to Commanda, he was again stopped from participating in another two-hour programme in the same Federal Radio FM station Pyramid in Kano on account of, ”an order from above.”
He said, “those who are behind these mischievous moves have something hiding against the President.”
Commanda added that, “while trying to feature in both Radio Nigeria, Kaduna and its subsidiary FM station in Kano, I was told by the management that they received a text message from the Presidency that I should be barred from using the federal radio in any of my programmes.”
Reacting to Commanda’s claims, the Zonal Director of FRCN, Kaduna, Buhari Auwalu, described it as untrue.
According to him, “on allegations that we are acting on the directives from the Presidency is a blatant lie, because I don’t deal with the Presidency directly neither do I receive orders from them.”
He explained that, “what happened was that Abdulmajid Danbilki Commanda was due to feature in a Hausa weekly program, Hanu Da Yawa, and we told him on arrival that he should postpone it to next week so that we sort out some issues of ethics with the NBC and also deal with some problems that had to do with INEC on electioneering campaign guidelines.”
