From Chidi Asonye, Aba
The management of the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, says it is not true that it has sacked about 500 academic and non-academic members of staff over employment irregularities.
Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Ezionye Eboh, who made this known to The AUTHORITY in Aba, asked the public to disregard the rumour which is aimed at denting the image of the institution as well as disrupt the activities of the school’s calendar.
His words: “No worker has been issued a dismissal letter and this administration together with the state government is on course to ensure sanity and tranquility in our school environment.”
The rector, however, expressed dissatisfaction over the reluctance of some students to update their personal information on the school portal in order to hasten the publishing of the school identity card, just as he advised them not to blame the school authorities for the delay they might experience during the collection of the cards.
Speaking further, Eboh made it known that the first semester examination slated for the first week of March will only admit students who are not indebted to the school.
He enjoined the students to remain calm and resolute as they attend their normal lectures and promised to address the issue of delay in publishing of academic results.
